Can I design my website through my web based control panel?

The company thru whom I have purchased the web space and web hosting services is situated in a different state and I live in a different part of the country. I would like to take the help of a web designer *** programmer who can make a dynamic website for me. The website will be containing a feedback page where members can log in their details and these details are collected in a databank on my webhosting company%26#039;s server and can be retrieved whenever needed. The question that I want to ask is whether the programmer can design a website from my place and in a way that I want it to be. I have frontpage, dreamweaver, design studio downloaded on my computer. The site needs to be linked to the different pages as well as different website on the internet. Also the site needs to be an interactive site where members can feed in their details, and those details needs to be segregrated according to the category of their presentations. Plz advise in this regard.

Can I design my website through my web based control panel?

anyone can create/change a website from somewhere else as long as you have the corrct code mysql sequence and all that jazz....mysql and php is what you should be using for your database if your not already doing that. But you can also create from two states away and emial the files somewhere with littleto no trouble at all due to size of programs and coding..

Looking for a free web host that supports php?

I don%26#039;t care about the domain name or if there are ads on the page. For example, I would be okay with www.geocities.com/domain, but geocities doesn%26#039;t support php as far as I can tell. Does anyone know of a free web host that supports php?

I have been onto a web hosting site who offer HTML validator checking, when I pointed it towards one of my HTML pages it came back with no character encoding found. Is there something needed to be done to my html pages before up loading them to the web (via FTP client) before publishing. I am new to this.

HTML, I have created a web site using HTML using WordPad, to which it works quite well in IE7 what do I do now

The character encoding statement goes in the head section of the page and tells the browser how to interpret any special characters in the page. A typical example:

%26lt;meta http-equiv=%26quot;content-type%26quot; content=%26quot;text/html; charset=UTF-8%26quot;%26gt;

If you want to use the standard pc/Windows extended ASCII characters, use charset=iso-8859-1.

if ur page is looking fine in IE7 then just upload it using an ftp client like %26quot;cute ftp%26quot;

no need to use an html validator till u see any problems with ur code.

just upload ur file and see how it looks on web.

all the best

Other Replys:hmm,. too bad,. then just don%26#039;t use it,. if u really wanted to check it,.. upload it even free ones such as geocities.... type on the wordpad SAVE AS %26lt;filename%26gt;.html

or better off,.. maybe u can learn basics but just introducing macromedia dreamweaver...

software i use to build html,.. with it, i could easily just drag and drop items i wanted for the site, and adjust sizes and move things visually with mouse.

Other Replys:Well if your web page works fine on IE7 on your local PC just upload via FTP or by other means (some free hosting websites give u options to upload html files from webpages). That should be it.

Other Replys:Html validator? try here

http://milliondollarzhomepage.co.uk/html...

Other Replys:have you put the code thru a validator? try http://validator.w3.org/

Other Replys:Perhaps you have the wrong DOC type, or perhaps forgot to include the encoding statement. You might want to check out this: http://www.w3.org/QA/2002/04/valid-dtd-l... to ensure that you are using the correct one.

Also, here%26#039;s where you might want to validate your HTML or (X)HTML doc: http://validator.w3.org/

And your CSS can be validated here: http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/

Other Replys:The DOC type is placed at the top of your file (html, xhtml, css, etc) it is used to tell the browser what type of data follows.

There are DOC types for different code types and to specify if it is strict or transitional etc.

If a DOC type is NOT specified then the browser will try to display it as standard HTML BUT a validation checker usually requires it to be able to check your code properly.

If the browser displays the page correctly then there is no problem in using the file as is BUT I would check your page with other browsers as well. IE does not always follow strict web guidelines and although your page displays nicely in IE it may not with other browsers and as a lot of people prefer to use something other than IE then you should make sure your code is correct. Try firefox as this is a very popular one and does follow web guidelines.

A lot of web design software will automatically add the DOC line to your code for you but as you are using notepad then you will have to do it manually.

I also commend you for learning HTML properly and using notepad will mean you don%26#039;t learn any bad habbits but I do sugest you download and use a web design package to make life easier. There are a lot of free ones and 2 I can recommend are:-

Maguma Studio (This is good for HTML, PHP, css, XHTML, javascript)

Cutepage (Not used it for awhile though as I have found Maguma to be ideal)

Torrent web host - legal issues?

Does anyone KNOW any webhost free or paid, that has no problem hosting a torrent website?

I have a website that lists ILLEGAL torrents mainly such as movies, applications etc. I have no .torrent files on my website, just links to them. For example I have a movie description and picture, and I link to the related page in mininova or piratebay that hosts the torrent.

Please answer with something usefull. Do not answer like this :

-If the files are legal why not?

-I dreamt that in some countries torrents are illegal but I am not sure

-You should buy the original movies

etc..

My question is clear, Any torrent host that has no problem with this kind of sites.

Torrent web host - legal issues?

I am not a lawyer, and you probably should get the advice of one.

If you don%26#039;t have copyright or permission from the author of the work you probably should not be even linking to unauthorized torrents. If it is copyrighted work something out with the owner.

There is plenty of content you%26#039;re free to distribute, open source software, Creative Commons licensed stuff, all kinds of free content.

Do you know a good, fast, no ads, web host with ftp, php and mysql?

I want to make a web site using a cms, so i%26#039;ll need php and mysql.

I have found even a %26quot;Free web host for only 28.99%26quot;.

What do you recommend me?

About the ads: i have no problem if a little bar is on the top of the home page, or if i have to insert a little button linked to them, but no huge ads and thousands of pop-ups.

Do you know a good, fast, no ads, web host with ftp, php and mysql?

There are any number of hosts that will provide ad free hosting for 4 bucks a month and will toss in a free domian name registration. Look for those that toss in domain name registrations for the life of the account and do not charge you to renew the name. What else could you want?

Do you know a good, fast, no ads, web host with ftp, php and mysql?

I dunno.

Other Replys:i think www.bizhat.com to this for free. At least they did when i joined them but i dont use php.

Other Replys:I use Lunar Pages. It has everything you mentioned except the ads.

Other Replys:I use http://www.gig4free.com. It has PHP, MySQL (not FTP). File uploads are done through cPanel. It does have ads but they are relatively small banner ads across the top of pages. For more information on this and other options there is a list with user reviews at http://www.free-webhosts.com/webhosting-...

Other Replys:here are the best of the best when it comes to hosting %26gt; http://www.interkeys.com/tophosts

powweb has community forum scripts,.. so basically you install the script, then it creates full forums in seconds + many other types of scripts

Other Replys:Two suggestions, I%26#039;ve hed great luck with both of these hosts:

http://www.spenix.com

http://www.devotedhost.biz

Other Replys:http://www.daylon.com/hosting/

compares the 2 best hosts.

Other Replys:Free web host for only 28.99? Not sure if I understand that.

Anyway, what you%26#039;re asking for is pretty standard stuff so it really boils down to how much can you afford to spend? The good thing is that you can probably get exactly what you need for around $10 per month or so with no ads.

Check out the info on this site and see if it helps:

http://www.onlinewebhostguide.com

Look under %26quot;Cheap Hosting Recommendations%26quot; or something like that.

Hope that helps!

Other Replys:The PHP (both 4 and 5), MySQL5 host I have used for several projects is Dreamhost ( http://www.dreamhost.com ). There%26#039;s a 10% discount code you can use when you sign up that I used: SUPER8. You can host as many domains on one account as you want for no extra charge, and all domain name registrations include private registration (so your personal info is kept out of WHOIS) for less than $10/name.

Can you help me learn more about my web stats for my website?

I am trying to learn more about web hosting and all the technical stuff in the frontend of the business. but I am a designer not a techie and have no idea where to start. So here are some things-

When I click on my web stats I get this info about each visitor- could you please decipher teh information (some of it is common sense...but what is hte HTTP code, explain the version...why does everything come up mozilla...?

%26quot;

/introscreen34.swf

Http Code: 200 Date: Jan 02 15:15:42 Http Version: HTTP/1.1 Size in Bytes: 722372

Referer: http://www.isolatedfilmproductions.com/

Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.1) Gecko/20061204 Firefox/2.0.0.1 %26quot;

Why does IP information sometime show locations so different than the actual site of the page viewer- A friend looks up my site and his computer is in Iowa but the IP information says the viewer is in Texas? Can anyone explain this to me?

Can you help me learn more about my web stats for my website?

http code: 200 means - ok no problems, if this code was different e.g. 404 would mean error the file cannot be found, there are others

Some of the stuff like date and size in bytes is self-explanatory.

the referrer is where u came from to access the page, or in this case ur .swf flash file.

ur agent is ur browser followed by computer info

the IP address location is of the ISP not your physical computer location all those sharing the same ISP will have the same location.

Can you help me learn more about my web stats for my website?

IP addresses change frequently. this way the IP registry info also changes which results in incorrect location details.

if you want to track you site visotor details with up-to-date location details as well, you can try MaxCounter.com. I use their service on my site.

I looking to start a user driven web site (think facebook/myspace). How do I pick a host and server

Like other user driven sites, there is the potential for hundreds of thousands of pages with gazillion posts, blogs, photos, and videos. A friend will design the site, but I need to know about web hosting and servers. Should I buy servers or rent? How much do they cost, either way? What other issues, as a computer novice with a good idea, do I need to know about? Please help, any advice would be appreciated?

I looking to start a user driven web site (think facebook/myspace). How do I pick a host and server company?

Hello, When you first start out i would suggest you start with something small if your budget is cheap. Then as the service grows and the users pick up, and im sure the advertisers start paying for space, you will want to upgrade your hosting plan. Then eventually you will more than likely want to move to a deidicated server in a NOC. You may want to check out Heath Hosting. They seem to be great and offer support 24/7. They also build websites! The prices are pretty comparable considering the services. This is definetly a company you would want to look into to start out.

Hope this helps!
